About the Role
As Financial Controller, you’ll be responsible for giving the business a clear, accurate view of our financial performance and efficacy, underpinned by strong financial control and compliance. You’ll own financial reporting, statutory accounts, audits and tax obligations, ensuring we can make decisions with confidence.
This role plays a pivotal part in supporting commercial decision-making and long-term planning. You’ll be a driving force and leader for the finance team, setting direction, developing capability and improving the finance function at Altnets.
What You’ll Do
- Own and lead the finance function end to end, covering financial and management reporting, compliance, planning and day-to-day operations
- Ensure strong financial control and compliance across tax, payroll and regulatory requirements
- Lead the external audit process and manage relationships with external advisors and service providers
- Maintain high standards of technical accounting, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP (FRS 102) and IFRS where required
- Oversee balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, fixed assets and investment activity
- Strengthen finance systems, processes and controls to support scale, efficiency and good decision-making
- Provide financial insight and guidance to senior stakeholders to support planning, performance and growth
- Help shape the future structure and capability of the finance function
- Lead a small team, providing guidance, supporting development, and inspiring excellence
Who You Are
- You’re a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), with solid proven post-qualification experience in a similar role
- You have an excellent knowledge and understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and how to apply it
- You’re experienced and highly effective with core accounting practices such as auditing, preparing accounts, and ensuring financial efficacy and compliance
- You search for context and meaning behind the numbers, analysing and interpreting financial data into actionable insights
- You’re a great communicator, particularly when it comes to translating complex financial information or legislation to non-finance stakeholders
- You’re a trusted and valuable advisor; taking time to understand strategic goals and having the experience to find the best route forward
- You’re a supportive and motivated leader; you lead by example, push your department forward, and inspire others to do their best work

The Package
- £40,000 – £50,000 base salary with an attractive bonus structure. Starting salary will be dependent on your skills and experience.
