Altnets hosted the inaugural Big Fish event, bringing together industry friends and clients for a day of Sussex coast fishing, networking and conversation.
There’s networking, and then there’s networking at sea.
This year, Altnets hosted the Big Fish, a new activity on the calendar that brings together industry friends and valued clients for a full day of Sussex coast fishing, food, drinks, and conversation.
For the inaugural Big Fish event, colleagues from Circet, SCCI and Boldyn Networks stepped away from the typical conference rooms and summer rooftop industry gatherings for a more unique chance to meet new people, catch up with familiar faces, and get involved in some friendly competition.
Before making their way to the docks, visitors gathered over breakfast baps and fresh coffee at the Altnets office in Brighton Marina. With the group gathered over breakfast, it was the ideal chance to catch up on the latest developments in digital infrastructure.
After heading out to sea with an expert skipper and crew aboard, guests spent four hours offshore targeting some of the English Channel’s finest species, from mackerel and bass to pollock and wrasse. With plenty of time on the water, there were plenty of deep dives into meaty topics, illustrating that many of the most successful industry discussions can happen away from a conference.
Of course, a little friendly competition was part of the plan. Throughout the excursion, there was a lot of competitive spirit and prizes up for grabs as guests fought to see who could land the greatest catch. Congratulations to Steve Chesterman from SCCI, who won the award for the biggest catch. A well-deserved win and a great way to round off the day!
The fishing crew retired to the Malmaison hotel terrace for well-earned drinks and dinner with a view of the water after arriving back at Brighton Marina. Spending quality time and having fun with the clients, collaborators, and industry leaders who shape the connectivity and technology sectors was the key objective of Altnets' first Big Fish event.
We would like to express sincere thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event. We enjoyed creating a relaxed atmosphere for discussions, connections, and a little fun or a new experience for our clients and industry contacts.
Could BIG FISH become an annual Altnets tradition? We certainly hope so.
